Constant changes in the education sector always render some school management approaches obsolete. In order to remain relevant in the face of the present day school inclusivity, as mandated by Eswatini’s Ministry of Education and Training (MoET), the Faculty of Education, working with various stakeholders, introduced a Bachelor of Education Degree in Leadership & Management of Inclusive Education (B.Ed-LMIE), a study programme designed to generate innovative management ideas in inclusive school environments. This B.Ed-LMIE is the first three year programme of study in Eswatini, that is meant to transform the management of schools, making the study programme desirable for: head teachers, deputy head teachers, senior teachers, heads of departments and/or all such educators in supervisory roles, especially those who wish to enhance their abilities in managing complexities coming with mainstream schools.
Through this same programme, qualified regular school teachers, with at least two years of work experience, who also aspire to climb the leadership ladder, will also be equipped with managerial skills to enhance proficiencies required to man inclusive schools. This B.Ed-LMIE will also help other professionals to become innovative in the management of institutions or organisations they lead or intend to lead. With the increased demand for inclusive education in the country, it therefore becomes apparent that this B.Ed-LMIE programme ensures a high production of school administrators who are highly competent to support teaching/learning and effectively superintend the administration of Special and Inclusive Education in mainstream schools.
The Department of Leadership & Management of Inclusive Education is, therefore, mandated to exercise the charge of this programme, in order to achieve the highest possible standards of excellence in all affairs of this unique Bachelor of Education Degree (LMIE), located in the Faculty of Education.
