Welcome to the department of Special and Inclusive Education (SIE). This department houses the Special and Inclusive Education Bachelor of Education (B Ed) program which is a three (3) year program study offered to students on a part-time basis as well as supporting other programs at the faculty offering Special and Inclusive courses.

The department of Special and Inclusive Education was established in response to the international call for the shift from special education in segregated settings for children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities, towards inclusive education where these children are included in local mainstream schools.

The aim of this department is to equip teachers with skills and knowledge on how to support ALL children regardless of ability, disability, race, gender, religion or socio-economic background.  Through the courses offered, teachers are trained on inclusive pedagogy and practice such that they are able to support ALL children more effectively and efficiently. It is about ensuring that teachers understand and address exclusionary practices such that they promote support for access and participation in learning for ALL children in schools.
