The goal of the department is to provide Midwifery education which is above the expected standard of education. We produce outstanding Midwifery professionals who reflect contemporary Midwifery practice in the provision of care to women, children and their families. Currently, Midwifery is offered in the Bachelor of science in nursing and Midwifery (BSNM) programme. This is a highly evaluated programme with a strong emphasis on science and art. The Midwifery department team is dedicated to supporting students and constantly strives to maintain excellence in the field. Student midwives learn through a combination of academic study and professional clinical placements in various maternal, neonatal and child health departments and community to ensure they attain the required Midwifery competencies as prescribed by Eswatini Nursing Council (ENC) and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). On successful completion, students register as Midwives with the Eswatini Nursing Council.
