BSc. Nurse Anaesthesia

Overview of the Programme

The programme has a strong focus in nurse anaesthesia theory with integrated clinical laboratory practices/simulations and a high intensity of hands-on clinical practice in selected placement areas. It is designed to equip students with advanced scientific knowledge and a comprehensive array of clinical experience that meets the standard of anaesthesia practice. The programme will prepare graduates to provide high quality anaesthesia care services to meet health care needs of their societies.

Admission Requirements

A diploma in general nursing or a Post Graduate Certificate in Midwifery Nursing Sciences or an equivalent nursing qualification from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning. Also required is a minimum of two years working experience. Last, students should bring; official transcript from previous institution attended, personal statement of intent with clear justification and two references in a letter format addressing academic and clinical potential.

Duration

This programme is done over a period of two (2) years or four (4) semesters on a full-time basis.

Career Opportunities

Upon completion of this course, graduates will register and practice as Nurse Anaesthetists in public and private health care institution in the country and beyond.
