The Southern Africa Nazarene University (SANU), invites applications for the positions below:

DEAN FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Providing teaching and learning, research and innovation, and community engagement leadership for the Faculty of Health Sciences;
  • Ensuring that all the programmes on offer meet the requirements of respective professional and regulatory bodies;
  • Overseeing the Quality Assurance processes of the Faculty including acting as Chair of Faculty Examination Boards;
  • Undertaking resource mobilization activities to support teaching, research and innovation in the Faculty;
  • Ensuring high quality online and face to face teaching and learning;
  • Providing leadership in the development of new and innovative programmes, and revision of existing programmes within the Faculty in harmony with the SANU Qualification and Credit Framework;
  • Ensuring full and transparent compliance with all of the Statutes, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Policies and procedures of the Council and Senate of the University as amended from time to time;
  • Disseminating all relevant regulations and policies to the teaching and administrative staff of the Faculty, and ensuring that these documents are understood and followed by the relevant administrators and academic staff;
  • Developing policies and procedures in all areas of Faculty administration for the efficient management and functioning of the Faculty, and ensuring that all such Faculty policies are in full compliance with Council and Senate Regulations;
  • Seeking appropriate derogation or exemptions from Council or Senate policies when such policies adversely affect the efficient and effective work of the Faculty;
  • Working closely with the PVC Academics, and other Deans of Faculties on the Deans Committee in sharing good practice as well as issues to be addressed;
  • Developing and reviewing annually a five-year Strategic Plan for the Faculty, in consultation with Faculty Board, Heads of Departments and other senior administrators for presentation to the Deans Committee;
  • Developing an Action Plan for implementation of the five-year Strategic Plan, and review it annually with senior administrators of the Faculty before presentation to the Deans Committee;
  • Establishing Faculty policies and practices that implement the SANU Assessment and Examination Framework in the Faculty;
  • Overseeing and implementing financial management policies that are transparent and in harmony with the financial policies of the University;
  • Overseeing the preparation of the annual Faculty budget and accounts for presentation to the University and ensuring that all details presented are complete, accurate and supported by required documentation;
  • Ensuring that the policies of the University are strictly followed in all financial transactions and that they are fully documented according to standard accounting practice;
  • Acting quickly and decisively after full consultation with relevant senior administrators or other appropriate advisors;
  • Appointing and leading Heads of Departments and other Faculty Management Personnel in consultation with PVC Academics;
  • Designing and maintaining effective means of communication with Administrative Officers, Senior Management and Heads of Department in the Faculty;
  • Overseeing and monitoring the work of other senior managers in the Faculty, including but not limited to Assistant Librarian, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Bursars;
  • Overseeing and monitoring the work of the HODs in supervising and monitoring the academic staff and programmes within their remit;
  • Overseeing the design and implementation of the semester teaching timetables and the examination timetables.

Professional Qualification & Experience:

  • The candidate must be a holder of a relevant PhD from a recognized university
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience of which at least 2 years should have been served in HOD position.
  • Publications will be an added advantage.
  • Academic credentials that meet requirements for tenure at Southern Africa Nazarene University
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

 

PHARMACY LECTURER 

The post is a fulltime faculty position under the Department of Pharmacy. The candidate will be responsible for teaching, supervising students’ research, practical’s and practice; research and innovation, and community engagement.

The ideal candidate should have a good first degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and a Masters degree in Pharmacy or equivalent. A PhD will be an added advantage.

Key Competencies and Experience

  • Teaching and management experience in a university setting will be an added advantage;
  • Publications will be an added advantage;
  • Good communication and presentation skills;
  • Excellent computer skills;
  • Good interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision.

Expected Characteristics;

The candidate must be dedicated to excellence in teaching. Online teaching skills are advantageous. A strong commitment to professional and ethical standards. The candidate must also be a committed Christian with ability to model Christ-like discipleship.
