**Southern Africa Nazarene University Hosts Oath-Taking Ceremony for Health Sciences Graduands**
The Faculty of Health Sciences at Southern Africa Nazarene University recently held a dignified and symbolic Oath-Taking Ceremony for its graduating students, marking an important transition from academic training to professional practice.
The ceremony brought together graduands from the **Diploma in Pharmacy**, **Bachelor of Science in Nursing & Midwifery**, **Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences**, and **Bachelor of Science in Nursing Anaesthesia** programmes. This event serves as a formal induction into the healthcare professions, where graduates publicly commit to upholding ethical standards, professional integrity, and patient-centred care.
An oath-taking ceremony is a cornerstone in health professions education. It signifies a graduate’s readiness to assume responsibility in safeguarding human life and promoting health within communities. By taking this oath, graduates pledge to practice with competence, compassion, and accountability, aligning themselves with the values and expectations of their respective professions.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognise academic and clinical excellence among the graduands. Awards were presented to outstanding students in various categories, including **Best in Practical**, **Best in Theory**, **Best Overall Performance**, and **Best Nurse Award**. These accolades reflect the University’s commitment to excellence and the high standards upheld within its programmes.
Speaking during the event, representatives from the University emphasised the critical role that healthcare professionals play in strengthening the healthcare system and improving patient outcomes in Eswatini and beyond.
The Oath-Taking Ceremony not only celebrates academic achievement but also reinforces the responsibility that graduates carry as they enter the workforce. As they step into their professional roles, these graduates are expected to embody the values of integrity, service, and lifelong learning.
Southern Africa Nazarene University remains committed to producing competent, ethical, and compassionate healthcare professionals who will contribute meaningfully to national and global health systems.
