Welcome to one of the most dynamic departments at the Southern Africa Nazarene University (SANU): The Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS). Our Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BSc.MLS) professional programme in the Faculty of Health Sciences (FOHS) is designed to produce Medical Laboratory Scientists of high repute, caliber, and dignity. The curriculum is especially rich in practical and clinical training content that allows for dynamism in the health sector.

The MLS department offers exciting educational and career opportunities for students wishing to combine an interest in the sciences with laboratory medicine. As vital members of the health care team, medical scientists perform diagnostic laboratory tests used to prevent, diagnose and treat disease. These Scientists are then employed in private and public hospitals, university settings, industrial laboratories and many more.

SANU, in collaboration with the Government of Swaziland, established the MLS department to offer the BSc.MLS in the FOHS. This programme is aimed to bridge the gap in the Medical Sciences field in the country.

The United State Embassy assisted in renovation built and handed over to the University a state-of-the art Medical Science Laboratory in a ceremony where the Embassy was represented by the Ambassador and SANU by the Board of Governors. As a part of the donation, the United States also added microscopes for use by students in the lab and also clinical practice laboratories.
