SANU expresses its gratitude to George Mason University, College of Public Health, USA, for inviting our researchers, Dr. Bongani T. Sibandze and Sr. Sibonile P. Dlamini from the Faculty of Health Sciences, for a research collaboration visit from 16 to 20 February 2026. During the visit, our researchers participated in an academic familiarization of the research and innovation activities of the Injury Analytics Lab at George Mason University, which is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in advanced injury imaging, alternate light technologies, artificial intelligence, and machine learning applications in injury assessment. The visit provided an opportunity to explore collaborative research aimed at developing innovative procedures to enhance injury assessment across diverse populations and care settings. This research is particularly important for the region, as enhancing local capacity in injury assessment is expected to improve both healthcare delivery and justice processes. We look forward to deepening this partnership and broadening the impact of the research.
