Medical Laboratory Week 2026 – Highlights
We are proud to highlight the successful participation of Southern Africa Nazarene University (SANU) in the Medical Laboratory Week 2026, held in collaboration with Eswatini Medical Christian University (EMCU) and the Eswatini Society for Medical Laboratory Professionals (ESMLP).
This landmark event marked the first collaboration between the institutions, with plans for continued annual partnership – next hosted at SANU.
🔬 Over 70 MLS students from all levels actively participated, demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and excellent engagement throughout the day.
🤝 The event provided a strong platform for networking and professional exposure, bringing together students, laboratory professionals, lab managers, and industry leaders.
Industry partners including MedLab, ASD Medical, and pathology service providers showcased their services through interactive exhibition stalls.
Distinguished Guest Speakers included:
Dr. Shymaa Mohamed– Head of Department, Medical Laboratory Sciences (SANU), who delivered a talk on career pathways and job opportunities in the medical laboratory field, guiding students toward future professional growth
Mr. Lungelo Mdlovu (ASD Medical, SANU Alumnus) – Career journey & professional growth
Ms. Gugu Maphalala (ENBTS) – Disease surveillance & public health insights
Ms. Nokwanda Maziya (The Clinic Group) – AI in medical laboratories
Mr. Gcina Dlamini (EHLS) – Laboratory practice & diagnostics
The event also featured engaging activities and competitions, creating an interactive and enjoyable learning environment.
A proud moment for SANU was the recognition and appreciation presented to Dr. Shymaa Mohamed Head of Department, MLS (SANU), in acknowledgment of her outstanding efforts in organizing student participation and strengthening institutional collaboration.
The event received media coverage, including television interviews, highlighting the importance of laboratory sciences in healthcare.
