Advancing Higher Education Through Collaborative Dialogue:Pedagogies, Innovation and Assessment for the Future

The Southern Africa Nazarene University is proud to congratulate its academic staff for their impactful participation in the Tri-University Symposium on Higher Education Pedagogies and Assessment, held on 09th April 2026 at the University of Eswatini. The collaborative milestone brought together Southern Africa Nazarene University (SANU), Eswatini Medical Christian University (EMCU) and the University of Eswatini to collectively advance teaching, learning, assessment and research excellence in higher education.
SANU was represented by ten (10) academic staff members namely, Dr Nhlengethwa, K.B, Ms Zwane, M., Ms Simelane, B., Dr. Dhemba, I., Dr. Masuku-Dlamini, N., Dr. Shongwe, E., Ms Phiri, Z., Dr., Shymaa A., Ms Sikhondze, S., and Dr. Ntshakala, T., who contributed to scholarly discussions under key themes including pedagogical innovation and practice, assessment and learning analytics, digital transformation in education and quality assurance. Their contributions reflected the University’s commitment to evidence based, inclusive and skills oriented teaching and learning while reinforcing its role in shaping responsive and future focused higher education in Eswatini.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Faith, B. Mlotsa-Mngomezulu, emphasized that this moment in higher education demands more than adequacy, it calls for genuinely innovative, evidence informed teaching that is adaptive, inclusive and transformative. She highlighted four critical pillars; the urgency of strengthening teaching in higher education, the case of pedagogical innovation, the role of technology as a tool rather than a destination the and non-negotiable imperative of inclusion which she described a s a moral obligation. SANU extends its appreciation to its partner institutions for fostering a collaborative platform that continues to advance critical academic dialogue ad collectively shape the future of higher education in Eswatini.
