Parasitology Training Workshop in Collaboration with Dimer Lab

Parasitology Training Workshop in Collaboration with Dimer Lab
The MLS Department at SANU, in collaboration with Dimer Lab (Eswatini), successfully conducted a specialized training workshop titled “Diagnostic Techniques for Parasitic Infections of Major Public Health Concern.” The sessions were delivered by a visiting team from Taipei Medical University, Taiwan, led by Prof. Chia-Kwung Fan.
The workshop was held from 20th–25th August 2025. Initially planned as a three-day program for Year 4 MLS students, the training was extended due to high demand to include Year 3 and Year 2 MLS students as well. To ensure maximum benefit, only 10 students attended per day, allowing closer interaction and hands-on learning.
Each day featured a 1.5-hour lecture followed by 1.5 hours of practical training, where students examined parasitology samples under the microscope and engaged with case discussions. In addition, booklets were provided to all students, giving them a valuable reference to support their continued learning. Certificates of Participation were also awarded.
The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Shymaa Imam (MLS Department, SANU), whose efforts made this collaboration possible. Students expressed their appreciation, noting the training’s great impact on their knowledge and practical skills.
This successful experience has paved the way for future collaborations between SANU, Dimer Lab, and international partners.
