Diploma in Pharmacy

Overview of the Programme

The profession of pharmacy plays a vital role in serving the health needs of the society. Pharmacists and pharmacist assistants are the most accessible members of the health care team for the public and are authorities on drugs and their use. This programme is designed to give students a firm foundation in the areas of pharmaceutical sciences such as pharmacology, patient care and drug delivery systems and many more. Students will be trained to analyse problems and think of creative solutions through hands-on training, case studies and projects.

Admission Requirements

A minimum of six (5) credit passes, including English, Mathematics, two Sciences (Biology & Physical Science/Physics & Chemistry subjects) plus any other two subjects, obtained in not more than two sittings, in either 0 level, I.G.C.S.E., S.G.C.S.E., H.I.G.C.S.E and A level. Mature age students are also admitted depending on their results of mature age examination results.Mature students are also admissible subject to review of their “prior learning” by the Admissions Committee.

Duration

The programme is studied over a three (3) year period or 6 semesters, on a fulltime basis

Career Opportunities

Students who complete this programme can register and practice as Pharmacy Technicians in community pharmacies, institutional pharmacies, wholesale distribution of pharmaceutical products, manufacture of pharmaceutical products and other pharmacy-related industries. They will also have a career path for their further education to the levels of pharmacist and specialist pharmacist.
